Help- I’m always Angry

Disclaimer: In no way am I a doctor, nurse or a licensed professional in the medical field. I am simply a person who has dealt with (and if I’m honest still dealing with) anger. Most days I am a very happy and bubbly person. I have a big personality and am usually found smiling and laughing.

But, when I am angry- I get really angry. Over the years, I have noticed that my anger began to come from often and would linger for longer lengths of time. It was as if I could go from 0-1000. Do you ever feel this way? Have you struggled with balancing your emotions? Do you struggle with keeping your head above water? I know that feeling.

There are several reasons why you could be angry. I want to tackle just three reasons and provide a few suggestions on how to deal with it.

1.) Your anger may be from a lack of communication with your loved ones.

You may be having a tough time at work and come home and your house is a wreck or dinner is not done. You instantly lash out to all around. Everyone begins to avoid you in your home after you come from work. They don’t know that you simply feel overwhelmed and underappreciated with your job. They don’t know that you need a helping hand. They don’t know that you just need a compliment or a good belly laugh. We often expect around us to know what we are thinking about. It is quite easy to do. We tell ourselves, you are around me daily, How did you not know? That thinking is unfair and will always result badly. Your family deserves more than that from you.

2.) You may be struggling to forgive someone who hurt you.

The Word of God teaches us that forgiveness is not for others but for us. When you hold on to unforgiveness, you have additional weight. Once you release it, the weight is lifted. You can forgive someone and set boundaries.

3.) You need to spend more time in God’s presence.

This could be a restless spirit. It could be that you need the Peace of God to be upon you. Have you released your frustration to God? Have you prayed about it? Have you told God why you are so angry and asked Him to guide you through it? Have you opened your heart to be surrendered to Him? God loves to hear from us. He is not ashamed of you so do not believe that he won’t accept your emotion.

Anger is much too heavy to carry.  Release it.

1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you
