No More Snakes in Your Garden

No More Snakes in Your Garden

snakeIt’s coming. The dreaded (or not so dreaded) holiday for couples is approaching. February 14th is not only my best friend’s birthday, it is Valentine’s Day. It is the day where everything is overly romantic and cute. For some it is a special reminder of their love for one another and for others it is a reminder of their single status.

There are several cases where women are content and enjoying their single life. (For example: Juliette Bush is the author of ““I’m 30, I’m Single, and I Don’t Care!” which releases on 2.14.17 to both amazon.com and her direct website at http://www.bravebyfaith.com. In this she shares her story of singleness, contentment and Faith in God along the way.)

Sadly, there are also women who are not content in their singleness. As the holidays approach, they are usually more sad or lonely than before. Often time, to avoid the feeling of loneliness, they turn to the arms of the first man to show them attention. I like to call these men SNAKES. Snakes are predators. They bait you for a while, measure the time it will take to capture you, then they devour you and move on to the next! You deserve more than a snake. Snakes DO NOT deserve to plant or slither through your garden.

Are you catching my drift? I am simply telling you to stop having sex with a man who is not your husband. There is no amount of temporary thrill that is worth a soul tie. Snakes have no loyalty.  They will take what they think is the best of you and move on. They leave you behind feeling hurt, violated, and dirty. You are worth so much more.

My newly married friend Andrea’ Crowder and her husband DeCorey waited to have sex until their wedding night. Their first kiss was after the officiant said “You may kiss the bride”. They both knew the importance of being obedient to God. They didn’t want to bring soul ties to each other. They respected one another and deemed each other WORTHY  in addition to knowing their own self worth.

You have to decide that you are worth the wait. Once you decide that you are worth the wait, you have to be apart of the wait! You have to stand your ground. Guys will try to pressure you but dont give in. If he is not willing to wait, he is not the one for you. Make it known upfront that you want to wait. Do not apologize for wanting to be obedient. The journey is not easy. Andrea’ was celibate for 5 years.  It will be rough but your obedience and your surrender to God is never in vain.

The illustration of the snake is used because snakes are intentional in their pursuit. The goal of a snake is always to feed themselves and move on. They do not consider their prey. The snake is not designed to be thoughtful or careful. They are strategic.

You can be strategic too.  Here are a few ways to do this.

1.) Stand firm on God’s word and do not compromise.

You must be strong in the Lord and put on His full armor, so that you may stand firm against the enemy. Eph. 6:10

2.) Practice what you preach.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22

3.) Surround your life with people who are in surrender to God.  (This means watch your friends.)

When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. Romans 1:12

4.) Do not allow people (or you) to judge your future by your past.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12: 2

5.) Give yourself time. Our walk with God is a daily process. You will not always have the answers. However, you have the Holy Spirit with you always. Allow the Spirit to lead you.

let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22
